Davey Bees is about ideas to help the hobbyist beekeeper. Including ways to reduce the chance of loosing swarms, reducing condensation and easier maintenance of beehives. It's based on our experience as beekeepers and many things we've read over the years from other bee keepers experiences. We have a few ideas and this site is about recording the results of testing these ideas.

I hate wiring frames! So instead I have been using two thin skewers for comb support. I've also made my own frames from 19mm (3/4") board. Works great. See here for more.

After several Lid designs, I have settled on a Lid can can also be used as a Base. It allows for a top entrance, and can be used on a long hive.
